The 2005, 2007 and 2009 editions were hosted by the University of Iowa in Iowa City, USA.

The 2017 conference was hosted by the University of Iceland in Reykjavik.

The 2021 edition was hosted by Massey University in Aotearoa New Zealand. Originally planned for The Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa Tongarewa, in Wellington, the final event was fully digital.
